A stylised and simplified owl piggy bank/money box, by Palaset, Finland.
(Palaset is also known as MK-Tresmer Oy or MK-Tuote).

Made in Finland and retro late 1970s or 1980s (at a guess, due to styling). May well be newer.
There's not many of these retro little fellow around, so hard to put a date to him.

I believe Palaset designed the famous Natwest globe piggy banks from the same era.
And like the Drumbo plastic elephants, these were often produced and branded for banks as an incentive to save.
They are still made today - branded and in bulk.
There were two sizes of these owls, 194 and 294, I believe this one is the bigger 294 which has a height and diameter of around 93mm.

Underneath there's a twist easy-open mechanism, no need for a key.
Eyes are black and white stickers. Body is a bright red plastic sphere with flat base.
Slot at back for money.

Excellent condition, hardly any marks or signs of age.
A perfect collectable gift... possibly too good for a kids room!
