Pair sycamore candlesticks. Danish mid century/Scandinavian style turned candle holders. Modernist/minimalist wood, tapered dinner candles

A pair of handmade Mid Century/Scandinavian style candlesticks. They're beautifully turned solid sycamore - they have a distinctive pale blond colour with a tight hardwood grain. I've tried to show you the grain and colouring (colour is warm and sandy). They're an exaggerated hourglass shape with a very narrow neck (1cm wide).

Unknown artist and age, probably 1990s-2000s by a woodturner local to Kent - but very much Danish midcentury influenced. Signed to the bases with 'SYCAMORE'. Skillfully made by a skilled artist, very smooth and tactile.

Both in excellent condition. The wood has a beautiful natural shimmer and sheen and has been lightly varnished. Clean with no wax damage. The shorter one has a smooth knot near the base, see pics.

The taller one is 31.5cm tall x 7.5cm rim and base. The shorter one is 28cm tall x 7.5cm rim and base. Both have a brass inset candle holder - designed to hold a standard tapered dinner candle (2.3cm wide).

Very stylish, and perfect for a Mid-century, Modernist or contemporary home.
