Old Hall Robert Welch Oriana tea set. Teapot, hot water jug, milk jug & sugar bowl. 1960s/1970s stainless steel. Modernist/vintage breakfast
Stylish Modernist five-piece tea or coffee set designed by Robert Welch, Des. RCA., FSIA, for Old Hall (Sheffield, England). Part of the iconic Oriana range designed in 1957, these were in production from 1960 to 1975. The Oriana range came about after the Orient Line enquired at Old Hall about tableware for their liner SS Oriana. The Oriana range used a heavier gauge stainless steel with a lower centre of gravity. It is is now much sought after. This set consists of the teapot, hot water pot, milk or cream jug, and sugar bowl with sugar tongs. I think the sugar tongs are from the Alveston range, but they were interchangeable and used with other Old Hall ranges.
High quality vintage items in a satin 18/8 stainless steel. Made in England by Old Hall, all five pieces stamped with the Old Hall Robert Welch logos. Stunning timeless Modernist 1960s design. They're chunky, sturdy and hard-wearing. Very good condition, all fully functional and perfect for display or a collector.
