Murano sommerso glass GEODE. Lobed bowl/ashtray/dish, golden amber/orange and red. Italian cased art glass, mid-century. Vintage/retro MCM

A beautiful and sizeable vintage Murano geode from the 1960s or 1970s.

Thick solid glass in a rounded off square shape. The lower half has detail in four lower lobes/pulls, one on each corner, with a dividing line between. Glass is an inch thick... Flat polished geode rim - like its been cut in half. A red inner well with striking bright golden amber or orangey yellow sommerso floating colour. All cased in clear glass. One slot for a cigarette - would originally been produced as an ashtray. Handmade/mouth-blown.

No chips, fleebites or nibbles. Really good for the age and era, hardly any signs of age. Rim is really good with no nibbles. A few insignificant tiny marks on the lower outer body. Flat polished base is great for age.

Excellent quality and great condition, very collectable and displayable example, looks stunning in the sun.
A decent chunk of unusual vintage glass at 1.1kg. 13cm x 13 x 6.5cm.
