Mid century 1960s 1970s melamine cat trivet. Square plastic vintage space age 6" tile plate. Stylised pink, purple. Retro Cogebi Ornamin 451

A fantastic and rare art trivet, or tile, or art piece by Cogebi Ornamin. Circa 1960s mid century vintage.

The square white melamine or hard plastic white tile is 6" wide and is raised up onto four corner feet. The stylised space-age cat design is screen-printed in salmon pink, teal blue, purple and black - it's so typical of the style from this era. Stamped to the back with 'Cogebi Ornamin marque deposee No 451'. If you google this, identical tiles are made by Ornamin, Sweden, with no. 64131, some have even suggested the design is by Stig Lindberg. Cogebi is Belgian, so this is a Swedish design made in Belgium.

15cm or 6" wide x 6mm deep. Good vintage condition with some wear but no chips.

There's a series of 3+ designs to collect - but they're very hard to find!
