Louis Hudson pottery wheel vase 1970s vintage, signed, Cornish Studio art. Brutalist Modernist geometric, round handmade ceramic stoneware

A super Louis Hudson signed wheel vase, made in Cornwall, England in the 1970s.
Round with flat edges, disc or coin like shape. Different pattern on each circular face, with plain sides.
This particular vase isn't as haphazard as many and has more carefully applied precise patterns - a quality and excellent example.
Good sized slot at the top for flowers - would hold a good dozen stems.

Louis Hudson opened a pottery in Trethevy Cornwall in 1971, closing in 1983. His work includes lamp bases, wheel vases, slab vases & cylinder vases in stoneware featuring distinctive geometric mouldings that reflected Cornish ceramics of the time.

This is a fascinating vase with deliberate irregularities (hand applied patterns) which reflects its handmade studio pottery nature, and giving it great character. The distinctive patterns are Runic/Celtic inspired with a Modernist/Brutalist appearance.

Lovely organic natural earthy neutral tones.
Beige neutral background colour, with unglazed and glazed tan brown coloured raised patterns.

Would make a fab addition for any collector of Louis Hudson, Cornish or studio pottery and would complement any retro, vintage, 70s, modernist, minimalist or modern interior. A fascinating artwork!

In excellent condition, a really nice collectable example.
Stamped to one side with the distinctive 'lh' initials.
A great statement size - 17.5 x 18 x 5.5cm.
