Libochovice Glassworks rectangular Lens jardiniere vase. Frantisek Vizner, Sklo Union/Czech Bohemian pressed glass. Clear Mid century retro
A striking heavy pressed glass vase designed by Frantisek Vizner for Libochovice Glassworks in 1965. This is likely to be late 60s or 70s vintage. It's known as a 'Lens' vase (or jardiniere) and it shows Vizner's interest in 'optical opportunities afforded by the protruding lenses'. The design also shows Vizner's love of simple geometric forms decorated with strong surface elements. Thick clear glass, the 'lenses' on this example are lightly frosted rather than transparent. It's rectangular, long and and narrow, so designed like a vase but to take flower stems more in a row - very eye-catching design and shape.
Very heavy thick glass - weighs 1.54kg. 13cm tall x 17cm wide x just 7cm deep.
As with most Czech glass the baseline is vulnerable and susceptible to nibbles. This baseline is sharp and imperfect from manufacture, and has two small chips and signs of age along sharp bottom edge. Otherwise no water staining, other chips, marks etc. Very good clean displayable and useable condition. Pressed glass, so has some minimal ripples/lines/bubbles. Please see photos.
Price includes P&P to the UK.
