Huge Puro bowl by Tapio Wirkkala, Iittala. Vintage art glass fruit/punch bowl, 2340. Finland, mid century 1970s. Clear ice textured crystal

A rather large Pura bowl (design no 2340), designed by Tapio Wirkkala. Made in Finland for Iittala, a high quality Scandinavian brand. Produced for a short time between 1977 and 1980. High quality crystal-content bright clear moulded glass (centrifugally formed). Raindrop or drip-like blobby textured upper surfaces and iceberg or bark-like lower half. Internally smooth.

Round with a pedestal leg and foot, textured sides with a thick rounded rim. Designed as a statement over-sized bowl or punch bowl centrepiece. The crystal content makes it catch the light beautifully.

Apx 22cm wide x 23cm tall. Weighs around 4kg (it goes off the end of my scales!)

Excellent condition. Some moulding lines from production. Perfect for a centrepiece display and as an investment. Fabulous bit of mid century design.
