Five Gaydon Melmex melamine yellow cups & oval saucers + side plates. 1960s mid century vintage/retro plastic picnic. 5-piece tea coffee set

A set of five 1960s melamine cups, saucers and small picnic plates by Gaydon Melmex.

The set dates from 1961-1966 I believe, and was designed by A.H. "Woody" Woodfull. This set is in a sharp acid light yellow (primrose yellow?) with contrast white inside the cups. The funky angled handles sit on space-age style oval saucers and the tea/cake plates are also oval.

All in good condition, but they have been used so all have small surface marks and signs of use (mostly to the plates). One has a duller inner white surface from being cleaned. I found one tiny nibble to a rim. All very durable and lightweight, yet stylish and typical of the era. Perfect for out and about - picnics, VW campervans and caravans, vintage events, etc. Priced according to condition, fully functional and good for use and display.

Cups - 6cm tall x 9cm wide (excl handle), maximum 200ml capacity. Oval saucers - 13.3 x 15cm. Oval side plates - 17 x 18.8cm.
