A lovely stylised vintage pottery owl money box by David Sharp at Rye Pottery (East Sussex, England)...

Typical of David Sharp's shape, style, technique, decor and colouring. A moulded hollow clay form with David's distinctive styling (they're all different - this one has darker colouring and is more unusual). The hand painted stylised geometric decor is wax resist in a glossy dusky teal green with matt dark brown/black lines. He has large concentric eyes with holes to the centre, and cute pointy beak. He's a money box with slot to the top and original stopper to the base. Hand signed 'D T Sharp Rye' to the base. Handmade with white clay, and circa 1970s era.

A good size - apx 13cm tall x 10cm wide x 10cm deep. Excellent and virtually untouched condition with no chips, cracks or crazing - all as originally manufactured. Being handmade, he's unique and fabulous!
