Dartington Frank Thrower FT98 Flame Red 'Polar' small glass vase/candle holder. Bark textured square. 1960s mid century handmade & sticker

An original vintage textured small candle holder, designed by Frank Thrower and hand made for Dartington, Devon, England. The design originated in 1969 and is FT98. It's petite and designed to hold a tealight or small pillar candle, or to support a dinner/taping candle within. It can also be used as a small vase.

These were described as: "FT98 'Lighting up time' Polar small candleholder. Height 2.5inches (65mm). Made in clear, midnight, kingfisher and flame."

This example is in the rare Flame Red colour - this colour was produced from 1968-1970. It maintains an original gold (first class) label which dates it from 1970 onwards, so we can date this cute little textured piece quite precisely to 1970.

Square shaped formed glass vase/candle holder with textured sides and round opening/rim. 6.3cm tall x 6cm square base.

Nice collectable example, with gold sticker. Just a tiny fleabite behind the sticker on the inner rim (just visible on last photo).
