Dansk Designs silver plated miniature tilting candlestick/vase. Vintage Modernist candle holder Jens Quistgaard Denmark. Mid Century 60s/70s

A stunning and striking tiny candle holder (or vase or paperweight) designed by Jens Quistgaard for Dansk Designs IHQ, Denmark in the 1960s. In Denmark these candle holders are called "silver onion".

It is a Modernist simplified form, made of solid zinc that's silver plated (EPZ). Highly reflective silver plated finish (sorry about my reflections!). It has two bases so can either sit vertically or at slight angle (see third photo). This little candle holder or vase matches the feel and scale of those abstract simplified animal paperweights which were more commonly made in Japan around the same era.

Stamped on the base with 'Dansk designs China IHQ' and 'EPZ'. I always believed IHQ pieces were a sign they were by Quistgaard. Unusual that it's made in China as most are from Japan, it has a different base stamp to many - maybe it's an older version.

Circa 1960s/1970s vintage. Perfect for a Mid Century interior and a Dansk paperweight/candle holder collector.

It is miniature at just 6.5cm tall x 4.8cm wide. The tiny opening will hold a few drops of water if needed as a vase (apx 1.5cm deep well), but probably more suited as a candle holder. The opening is a very narrow 5.5mm wide. A few tiny signs of use, but overall in really good displayable and usable shiny condition.

Price includes P&P to the UK.
