Danish 18/8 stainless steel cigarette/jewellery box. 60s Mid-century Modernist. Scandinavian teak Danish humidor. Scanda #128, engraved SPGU

A stunning simple slimline stainless steel and wood lidded box - perfect for jewellery or trinkets or money etc.

Top is personalised with "S.P.G.U., Bognor Regis G.C., 26-6-68" - dating it exact to 1968.
Made in Denmark, it has the original importer's sticker on the base which reads "Scanda Stainless Steel 18/8, no 128, imported by Priestly & Moore Ltd".
Also hallmarked beneath the sticker with "18/8 Denmark".
Priestly and Moore, Sheffield, would have been the distributors.

Modernist, mid-century slick design, polished shiny finish.
Wooden trim to the sides (teak or rosewood most likely, a deep reddy hardwood) and handle - see photos.
Full length hinge - works well and holds it open.

SPGU is the Sussex Professional Golfers Union, who would have received this beautiful item as a gift from Bognor Regis Golf Club.
It would have originally been a classy cigarette box - it would fit a pack of 20 or a pack of small cigars.

Fab condition! A lovely quality item. A few small scratches and marks, as you expect for vintage steel.
