Celtic Pottery, Newlyn, round blue Medallion dish/bowl. 1970s vintage Cornish Studio. Retro Modernist ceramic. Handmade stoneware 10" plate

A fab retro pottery dish, by Celtic Pottery, Newlyn, Cornwall. Circa 1970s.

It's in the Medallion pattern, designed and made by Maggie Fisher & Ed Stevens in the 1970s (they were part of the same Cornish studio pottery movement as the highly collectable Troika). This shallow dish/bowl features an 'incised' or resist pattern cut into blue/black - the inner pattern is sky blue and bubbled/speckled. The outer rings are a lush Royal blue with a metallic black. The dish is flat and round with short vertical sides - ideal as a fruit bowl, serving dish or a table centrepiece.

The distinctive patterns are Runic/Celtic inspired, with a Modernist retro shape. Would make a fab addition for any collector of Cornish or studio pottery and would complement any retro, vintage, 70s, modernist, minimalist or modern interior. A fascinating and functional unique artwork.

No maker's marks, but undoubtedly Celtic Pottery. The ceramic is 5cm tall x 26cm wide. Very good condition.

Price includes P&P to the UK.
