Boxed Viners candle holder, Stuart Devlin, 1960s/1970s Modernist/Brutalist/Minimalist. Mirror stainless steel, gold textured stem. Retro 70s
A striking Viners stainless steel candle holder, designed by (Australian metal artist) Stuart Devlin. It comes in its original retro box. Circa 1960s or 1970s vintage, it's Modernist, Minimalist and Brutalist in style. It's slim and sculptural and a conversation piece.
There's an upper stainless steel simple cone shape at the top, with two steps inside - designed to hold both a tapered dinner candle and a wider pillar or tealight candle. The inner opening is about 2.3cm wide, the next step is about 4.6cm wide. Slim gold Brutalist textured stem with random gouged/jagged/stepped textures. Simple minimalist steel base. The stainless steel is a bright shiny silver chrome-like metal with a mirror finish and highly reflective. Stamped on the base 'Viners Stainless Steel designed by Stuart Devlin Sheffield England'.
Amazing condition for age, looks to be unused. The box shows some signs of wear - it states it's part of the Devlin Collection, model no B442/305.
6cm tall x 6.3cm at the base - slimline, elegant, simple.
