Boxed Dartington Frank Thrower FT60 clear art glass vase. 1960s vintage handmade crystal pot. Square block, Daisy textured candle holder.
A vintage candle holder or vase, designed by Frank Thrower and made by Dartington, Devon, England. The design originated in 1967/1968 and is FT60. This original box was an early design - dating the candle holder to the late 1960s or early 1970s.
It's square with a wide round rim, and designed as both a vase and to hold a pillar candle on its inner shoulders. It's clear and bright with a crystal content. Each side of the square shape has an abstract raised daisy pattern in the middle, lightly textured. This contrasts with the smooth cylindrical narrow neck then wide round rim. Flat polished rim. Mouth blown and handmade so the glass has natural undulations and ripples.
It's in excellent condition. 12cm tall x 8cm x 8cm. The inner rim is around 6cm wide (so the inner shoulders will support a pillar candle 4 to 6cm wide), and the inner hole is about 2.5cm wide. It's a great example - ideal as a collector's piece. The box is complete but tatty - see photos. (No candle included).
