Bagni Stained Glass vintage Italian pottery/ceramic vase. Signed V59/G32 Italy. 12" black cylinder, blue orange geometric glazed. 1980s art

A tall and striking ceramic vase designed by Alvino Bagni in the late 1970s or early 1980s, so circa early 80s. Most likely produced for Rosenthal Netter.

It has a stained glass design - glossy raised panels of complimentary colours resembling a stained glass window, over a matte black ground with a glossy turquoise interior. It is hand signed on the base with 'V59/G32 Italy'. The base coat on the coloured panels was pale blue and this has been overpainted with darker blues, orange, green, red, and purple. Hand painted with four horizontal divides and other geometric dividing lines. It has been done quite quickly and slap-dash using a stencil or wax resist technique - if you look close up you can see colours bleeding but straight exact divide lines.

It is a tall cylinder vase (32.5cm x 9.5cm). Weighs over 1kg. There are no chips or cracks, has the correct 'ring' to it. The matte black is susceptible to marks and it has some small scratches here and there which could be touched up. There are couple of patches/marks where you can see the lighter coloured clay below. There are areas of paint bleed/dots/splashes from time of manufacture. Overall I'd give it a 8/10 - it's good with small marks. Please see all pics.
