Arcopal Harlequin 6 opal cups & saucers. Vintage/retro 1960s. French Opale glass. Six coffee/tea cups, set. Pastels/gold pearlescent, Pyrex
A pretty set of six Arcopal cups and saucers (French Pyrex style). Milky white opal pressed glasswear, coated in 6 opalescent very pale pastel shades with gold gilt trims. I think the design originated in 1958, so circa 1960s vintage. Made in France. Mid-sized coffee cups, ideal for those French Press style coffees on a Sunday morning.
Colours are near white, pale pink, pale peach, pale green, very pale blue grey, and greeny white - please see photos, they're very subtle pale shades which only really show up on a white backdrop. An original complete set - all stamped to the bases with the same logos. The nature of the Arcopal glassware design means these are durable - suitable for the dishwasher.
Very good vintage condition. Only one tiny nibble that I can find (pictured). Gold gilt trims are good for the age, with some wear (mostly on the peach cup, white saucer and pink saucer). Being pressed glass there are some manufacturing lines and irregularities within the pearl coloured glazes.
Each cup is around 8.4cm diameter (excl handle) x 4.7cm tall.... a mid-size. Saucers are 12.6cm wide. Apx 130ml, 5floz, 1/2 cup, or 1/4 pint sized cups.
Perfect for a Sunday morning in your retro 1950s or 1960s styled kitchen or garden!
