Arabia Pomona, Finland Strawberry jam pot. Mid century vintage 60s white ceramic condiments serving container. China bowl/dish. Ulla Procopé
A beautiful vintage jam pot by Arabia, Finland (or honey pot, sugar bowl, condiments/parmesan serving pot... anything you wish!) The decor is Strawberry and the range was called Pomona. The shape of the pots was designed by Ulla Procopé and from 1965 Arabia started using the Pomona patterns by Raija Uosikkinen. The Pomona line consisted of drawn images of various fruits in a repetitive pattern. In total 10 different patterns were used, inclusive of honey bees. Pomona was in production for nearly a decade from 1965 to about 1973. It has never been re-issued so all Pomona items you find these days are from this period. The decoration was applied through a silkscreen transfer process - so are usually still very bright.
Very good condition - ideal for a collection, for use and for display. The main body is great, no chips. There's one small flaw inside - it looks as if a tiny hole in the glaze has crazed in a small starburst shape, see pics. Clean with good bright print. It's the shorter version of the design, with no lid. Simple cylinder shape. The pot is stamped to the base with 'Arabia made in Finland 6-66' - which denotes June 1966.
6.2cm tall x 9.6cm wide across the flared flat rim, 8.5cm wide at the base.
