Anita Harris Studio AHS red purse vase. Ex Poole Pottery living glaze, volcano red chevrons. Handmade small ceramic ornament, signed. Retro
A super Anita Harris art pottery 'purse vase' from AHS, circa 2000-2008.
Anita Harris is known for designing the Palm bowls at Dartington Glass in the early 1980s. She also worked as the head of design for Poole Pottery, moving on to the Cobridge Stoneware (Moorcroft) factory. She then went on to start her own small business (Anita Harris Studio, AHS) with designer Samantha Johnson at Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. Her current studio is called Anita Harris Art Pottery (AHAP).
You can clearly see Poole Pottery techniques and shapes and colours in this piece, it's just like the Living Glaze, Volcano, Chevron and Odyssey Poole pieces. It's deep firey red with drips of duck egg and blue and black in chevron or diamond shapes. A simpler decor is to the reverse. Stamped to the base with 'AHS England' and with a decorator's mark or date (a series of dots). It's a small 'purse vase' - pocket sized and perfect for display or for a collection.
8 x 8 x 4cm. Excellent condition.
