A lovely stylised vintage pottery bull by David Sharp at Rye Pottery (East Sussex, England)...

Typical of David Sharp's shape, style, technique, decor and colouring. The hand painted geometric decor is wax resist, smooth and glossy, in a dusky deep petrol blue/green and speckled lighter duck egg to white tones. This example is hand signed 'D T Sharp Rye' to the base. Handmade with white clay, and circa 1970s era.

A good size - apx 23cm long x 13cm tall x 11cm wide. Modernist style with minimal features, this is a lovely example of a Studio Pottery bull sculpture.

Very good condition with no chips, cracks or crazing - all as originally manufactured. He does have a manufacturing flaw to his back which was covered over and glazed over at the time - a 2cm line, see photos. Being handmade, he's unique and fabulous!
