1970s Caithness Canisbay decanter by Colin Terris + original label. 4060/D Peat (brown). Vintage glass lidded bottle. Scottish retro barware

A lovely and elegant smoke brown glass decanter, designed by Colin Terris in 1972 for Caithness, Scotland. Design is 'Canisbay', as per page 41 of Mark Hill's Caithness Glass book. Terris was heavily influenced by Scandinavian design, and this series colouring was influenced by the Scottish landscape - this colour is Peat. It's cased in clear glass. This design was produced until 1988. (The design was awarded a Design Council accreditation shortly after its introduction). This example maintains its original old paper label to the base, dating as an early example from the 1970s. The Peat colourway best compliments a good old Scotch.

Heavy quality item in very good condition. A nice collectable and displayable example. Some minimal tiny surface marks/scratches and some signs of age on the base. There's a bit of scale internally at the very bottom and some some drip marks from me trying to dry it. Both inside of the neck and the outer stopper have been ground down to ensure a good seal. See photos.

Apx 29 x 11cm. 960g.
