11" Vintage Tamara Aladin 'Ruusu' Rose vase #1477. Riihimaen Lasi Finnish big cased red art glass. Riihimaki Scandinavian retro, 1970s 70s

A striking vintage art glass vase, designed around 1972 by Tamara Aladin for Riihimäen Lasi Oy / Riihimaki, Finland.

This is a huge 11" version of the harder to find Ruusu (Rose) vase, #1477. It is a great vivid red colour and is cased in clear glass at the base. It has a cylindrical lower half, with a narrowing waisted detail above, and a flared shaped upper. Flat polished rim. Mouth blown in to a mould, it has the distinctive funky ringed undulating base, see photos. Circa 1970s vintage.

A large and chunky statement sized 28cm x 12.5cm wide at the rim. Weighs 1.4kg. Excellent condition for age/era. Flat rim is has the smallest fleebite, which I've tried to show, and a tiny scratch. Base shows a couple of signs of age/era. Being handmade and mouth blown it has a couple of natural manufacturing flaws in the glass - there's a stretched bubble or line in the lower third and a tiny bubble in the base. But pretty amazing for 40-50 years old. I'd give it a 9.5/10 - great example and stunning on display!
