A lovely pair of matching ornamental retro plates by Beswick, believed to be 60s or so.
One large and one smaller fish, quite 3D. Matte brown painted outers with red eye (quite crudely done).
Blue/green fancy glazed/shiny inners - almost dotty to form scales, with contrast dots of vivid orange.
Also has some darker blue dots of glazed colour towards the bottom. Almost fat lava styling.
Both stamped on their backs with a small Beswick, England logo. Larger one also says handwritten 'Beswick England 2133'.
Could be used for dry food/nibbles such as nuts, sweets or for display (they do not hang). (I don't think either would hold water).
Large fish - 25x22cm. A hollow formed shape. Has two hairline cracks within the glaze - hard to spot and I challenge you to find them. See photos.
Has plastic feet/protectors on the base. No chips, looks great!
Small fish - 18x15cm. A flat formed shape (not hollow). One hairline crack - again hard to spot, shows more on the back.
No chips. Again displays really well.
Both look great!
